Flood risk consultation

Published 17 February 2023

As the lead Local Flood Authority, Staffordshire County Council has launched a four-week consultation to gather views on its updated strategy to minimise and mitigate flood risk in our county. We are committed to working with local communities and organisations to minimise the risk of flooding to properties from sources such as watercourses, surface water, and groundwater.

Since 2018, there have been 9 significant flood events in Staffordshire, and climate change is only likely to increase the frequency and intensity of the rain we see. It is therefore more important than ever that we work together to minimise and manage the risk of flooding.

We are encouraging everyone: residents, businesses and organisations across Staffordshire to help shape Staffordshire’s approach to help manage the risk of flooding in the county.

The consultation can be found here https://bit.ly/3Ke9IwF. We will be doing a lot of promotion to encourage as many responses as possible, but would be grateful if you could use your own channels to promote this amongst your constituents so we can capture their views. By doing so, you will help shape Staffordshire’s approach to help manage the risk of flooding in the county.

Published 13 February 2023

Litter Pick 2023

The annual litter pick will take place on the weekend of 11th, 12th March.

This clears the verges of the A515, A513 within the Parish Boundary, plus Crawley Lane, Common Lane and the Shaw Lanes.

Last year about a tonne of rubbish was collected by us and the ‘Lichfield Litter Legends’.

Would anyone prepared to help with this effort please contact Allan Howard 472720.

This year’s Open Gardens event will be held on the weekend of the 24th, 25th June.

We would be very interested to hear from anyone who would be prepared to open their garden, particularly those who have not done it before.

If you are interested please call Alison Howard on 472720.

We will be holding a meeting of all participants on 17th March when details, including the choice of the charity to which the proceeds will go to will be decided.
